NEHALEM, Ore. – Local residents toured the new Nehalem City Hall during an open house on Saturday, Oct. 12, just a few months after a contractor broke ground on the facility.
The new City Hall is located next door to the old city headquarters, which also contains the Nehalem Fire Hall.
Mayor Shirley Kalkhoven, City Council member Dale Stockton, City Manager Dale Shafter and Assistant City Recorder Melissa Kiefer answered questions and pointed visitors to plates of cookies in the lobby and council chambers. They explained that the modular structure was purchased with funds from the sale of timber in the nearly 1,000 acres of city-owned forest located in the hills behind downtown.
The new City Hall is located at 35900 8th Street.
