Dramatic Dog Rescue at Cape Kiwanda Sunday May 11th Netarts Oceanside Fire District & Nestucca Rural Fire District Respond, Skilled Rope Rescue Team in Action, Brings Journey to Safety

Huge shoutout to the Volunteers and Staff of Nestucca Rural Fire Protection District! Honored to provide support during this incredible rescue! A dog slipped and fell off a cliff near Cape Kiwanda. Nestucca Rural Fire Protection District and Netarts-Oceanside Fire District Rope Rescue Teams secured Journey (named for the band – Steve Perry 80’s version according to Journey’s dad) in a harness and ascended back up the cliff. Journey was unhurt, and enjoyed LOTS of tummy rubs once back on the beach. Nestucca Rural Fire Protection District Tyler G. – you are THE BEST!!!

Took a turn for the terrifying
JOURNEY running over the edge and down to a point of nearly falling to the rocks below
Multiple emergency responders on Sunday
Answering the call for Journey
I could not have rescued him myself
Which is very humbling
He remained still and calm for an hour
And then these hero’s showed up
All geared up…..from everywhere
Unquestionable excellence
