Attn. ARTISTS: Oregon Coast Visitors Assoc. and SOLVE Survey About Re-Purposing Marine Debris

Posted on July 18, 2018April 3, 2020 by Editor

The Oregon Coast Visitors Association (OCVA) and SOLVE are partnering to explore the potential of re-purposing large amounts of marine debris by gathering, sorting, storing and offering it free to artisans and entrepreneurs. Organizations such as Washed Ashore have proven that such a concept is possible and we are seeking to majorly expand a similar model.

In addition to individual artists and entrepreneurs using these materials, OCVA and SOLVE are interested in the possibility of commissioning large pieces of public art for coastal communities which do not currently have public art or those that may desire more.

Before launching this effort, we are assessing the potential demand for such materials to justify the expenditures it will take to make it happen. If you are interested, please let us know by completing this survey and identifying what kinds of material you would be most likely to use and where you would be most willing to pick them up.

We believe that together we can keep Oregon Coast beaches clean and invest in community livability through public art!
Thank you for taking the time to take the survey.

The Oregon Coast Visitor’s Association (OCVA) is the official Regional Destination Management Organization (RDMO) and promotional entity, as designated by the Oregon Tourism Commission, DBA Travel Oregon. Our association is comprised of Chambers of Commerce, Visitors Centers/Bureau, resource management entities and 100+ (approx) private tourism businesses along Oregon’s 363 miles of coastline. We advocate on behalf of the coastal tourism industry by facilitating industry alignment, coordinating industry management efforts and by engaging in cooperative promotional activities which achieve maximum, measurable benefits for our coastal economy with minimal negative impacts on its quality of life.
