CITY OF MANZANITA: COMMUNITY UPDATE

Posted on March 19, 2020March 20, 2020 by Editor

Dear Manzanita Homeowners,
These are strange times for all of us. With the steady spread of coronavirus to every corner of our society, constant change is the new normal. If you have gone ahead with your spring break plans despite this developing situation, please understand that changes have also come to our little villages of Manzanita, Nehalem and Wheeler.

Those who live and work here year-round are taking this situation very seriously. The majority of our full-time residents are of retired age and fall into higher risk categories. Many of the younger people who serve you in our local businesses have small children at home. Shops are open. Some have either trimmed their hours or are limiting the number of people that can enter at any one time. A few have temporarily closed. All local events scheduled for March have been either postponed or canceled. As with the entire state of Oregon, all of our area restaurants have switched to delivery and take-out options only. You can be assured that the owners and staff of all shops, restaurants and lodgings have instituted cleaning protocols that go above and beyond their already high standards. But if you are in our area for spring break, please limit your contact with others as much as possible.

Communicate with local businesses by phone and email prior to shopping or making dining plans. Buy a gift certificate online from your favorite local merchant for future use. Adhere to recommended social distancing practices and avoid large groups of people. If you are traveling from an area with a large amount of reported cases, please postpone your trip. And, of course, wash your hands regularly.
We can get through this. But we need your help.
