TILLAMOOK COUNTY COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS: Tillamook County Weekly COVID-19 update July 9th — 20 cases reported last 2 weeks

Posted on July 9, 2021 by Editor

Over the past two weeks, June 20th through July 3rd, Tillamook County has seen an increase in cases, with 20 recorded during that time frame and a test positivity rate of 3.5% — 19 cases of the 20 were unvaccinated individuals.

Since March 2020: 695 cases of COVID-19 in Tillamook County, 4 deaths and 31 hospitalizations. One new hospitalization occurred this week.
There has been increased concern with the delta variant (B.1.617.2). To date, Oregon Health Authority has tracked 14 cases in Oregon, with 7 located in region 1 (Clackamas, Clatsop, Multnomah, Tillamook and Washington counties). County level data is not available for variant tracking at this time. Oregon Health Authority notes that the delta variant is expected to increase in Oregon over the next few weeks as it is 50% more transmissible than the alpha variant (B.1.1.7), but there is no evidence of increase severity of disease response.

We encourage everyone who is 12 years old and older, who has not done so yet, to choose to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Your choice will not only protect you against the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes the disease COVID-19) but it will also help to keep others safe in our county that may not yet be eligible for the vaccine by reducing disease spread. COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and available at no cost.

Contact your local health care office or stop into a local pharmacies to get your shot. Our health center has COVID-19 vaccines available to all 12 years and older on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We carry Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

As always, all should continue to wash hands frequently and avoid touching your ears, nose, and mouth. Consider wearing a mask and practicing physical distancing if you are in crowded areas, are not yet vaccinated or are with those who have a medical condition that may place them at higher risk for COVID-19.
