Emergency Volunteer Corps of Nehalem Bay Donates Essential GoBags to Local Food Pantry

Posted on December 7, 2022December 7, 2022 by Editor

MANZANITA, OR, December 5, 2022 – For the second year in a row, the Emergency Volunteer Corps of Nehalem Bay (EVCNB) has donated ten Essential GoBags to those in need through partnership of EVCNB’s GoBag program and the Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church (NBUMC).

Bobbie Mosher, NBUMC Food Pantry Manager, accepted the 2022 GoBag donation on behalf of the NBUMC. She indicated that this year’s recipients are regular clients of their food pantry. Last year, the church distributed the GoBags to homebound seniors. Mosher stated, “It is a wonderful thing for EVCNB to donate the bags which will go to individuals who could not afford to even consider being ‘prepared’.”

GoBag Lead Karen Sarnaker said, “EVCNB’s mission is to help our community prepare for emergencies. Part of this preparation is the creation and distribution of GoBags which contain the necessary items to ensure one’s survival for at least three days.” For years, Sarnaker’s team has researched products for the bags to provide high-quality items that are reliable when an emergency arises. The bags contain food bars, water, first aid kits and other items to provide warmth and protection from weather. Sarnaker further stated her appreciation for the NBUMC’s ability to distribute the bags to “those who find it difficult to purchase one”.

Funding for the donated GoBags was made possible by a grant from Tillamook County and generous donations from the community.

The Essential GoBags are available for sale at regular “Pop-Up” stores. The schedule is available on the EVCNB website.
