GORDON’S UPDATE: Weather 4/27/23 – Sunshine, Warm Temps Through Friday; Return to “Normal” Temps Saturday, Rain by Sunday

Posted on April 27, 2023 by Editor

By Gordon McCraw, Meteorologist for the Tillamook County Pioneer
Thursday, April 27, 2023

The high pressure ridge continued to give us warm and dry conditions today and while the high clouds continued to stream southeastward across the area, they did thin out some and this allowed for more sunshine. This in turn combined to allow the afternoon high temperature to climb a couple degrees over yesterdays.

Tonight, the ridge continues to build over the area and the winds, which start out northwesterly 5-10, become more easterly after around midnight under some clear skies, the low only drops to 51.

Tomorrow continues to shape up to be the warmest day of the week with sunny skies and easterly winds 8-12, the high climbs up to around 81.
Remember to use sunscreen if you spend time outdoors working or playing…and stay hydrated. Remember also that under these conditions it is NEVER safe to leave a toddler, disabled person, or a pet locked in a car. Leaving the windows cracked on a parked car has the same effect where the temperature can climb over 10 degrees in only a matter of minutes.

So, tomorrow night the winds again shift as the ridge starts to drift eastward and a low pressure area begins to develop to our northwest and starts moving southeastward offshore, becoming southerly 4-8, the low down to near 46.

With a trough of low pressure moving towards the coast Saturday, the ridge continues to shift further eastward, and with the shift we see the marine influence return with winds southwesterly 4-8, so, even with mostly sunny skies still, the high temperature only climbs to near 66. Then we see some clouds starting to develop Saturday night, the low temperature near 46.

Sunday, the low continues to move southward along the coast from west of Washington. This would give us mostly cloudy skies with a slight chance of showers, the high only makes it to near 57. A little better chance of showers Sunday night, lows near 44.

Monday, the weak low pressure area continues to moves southward from west of Oregon and continues the threat of showers that does ease in the afternoon as the low moves southwest of our area, the high near 57. Still a slight chance of a shower or two Monday night, lows near 40.

By Tuesday we see partly sunny skies with the low pressure area resting west of northern California giving us a slight chance of wrap-around showers into Wednesday, highs near 62, lows near 46.
