Construction of the new Cape Meares Loop Road is progressing well and significant work has been completed on the south end of the project. The contractor will start moving equipment and materials to the north end utilizing the old alignment. This is expected to last until mid to late July. Working the project from the north and south ends has been found to be benefit the schedule. The contractor will make some minor repairs to the old alignment to allow their vehicles to cross and yes, they will be crossing an active slide area.
Please let your friends, neighbors, guests, tenants, etc. know that the old alignment will become part of the active construction site until it is no longer needed. No unauthorized personnel are permitted in this area. I understand that this is an inconvenience for some. Oregon Parks & Recreation has great trails outside of the old alignment and Bayocean Spit has many great trails as well.
The new road is scheduled to open prior to November this year.
