TILLAMOOK BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS SELECT DOUG OLSON TO COMPLETE TERM, OFFICIAL APPOINTMENT OCT. 25th

Posted on October 23, 2023 by Editor

By Tillamook County Commissioner Mary Faith Bell
I am pleased and grateful to announce that the Tillamook Board of County Commissioners has chosen Doug Olson of Pacific City to be appointed to fill the balance of Commissioner Yamamoto’s term, upon Commissioner Yamamoto’s upcoming retirement.
After a robust public process vetting candidates for the position, Doug was chosen from among six finalists. Commissioner Skaar and I deliberated in our October 18 board meeting, and we will vote to formally appoint Doug on October 25, 2023.
Doug brings to the position a wealth of knowledge and experience that will benefit Tillamook County and enable him to get up to speed very quickly and be highly effective in his tenure. The voters of Tillamook County will choose a commissioner to fill the seat in the 2024 election.

Doug is extraordinarily qualified for the role. A few highlights from his resume include current chair of the Tillamook County budget committee, the president of the Tillamook PUD board and the Tillamook Lightwave board, director on the Adventist Heath Tillamook governing board and on the Pacific City – Nestucca Valley Chamber of Commerce board, where he is also past president. He has vast experience with local and state government and government finance, and he and his wife Patty were successful business owners in Pacific City for 20 years.
The Tillamook Board of County Commissioners will release a formal press release after Doug is formally appointed by the board on October 25. Until then let me say that I am thankful to everyone who stepped up to be of service as appointed commissioner. We were fortunate to have several excellent candidates from which to choose. Commissioner Skaar and I both had Doug Olson in our top two candidates, with good reason. Doug is a natural leader, a statesman, widely trusted, respected and well regarded. I look forward to working with him.
