EVENT: OREGON LEAGUE of CONSERVATION VOTERS VIRTUAL TOWN HALL ON THE ENVIRONMENT WITH SENATOR JEFF MERKLEY OCT. 26

Posted on October 24, 2023 by Editor

Climate chaos is hitting our planet hard, and the consequences can be seen everywhere. Places across the country reached record-breaking high temperatures–some even breaking multiple records just this summer alone–and Oregon was no exception. These extreme temperatures are threatening not just keystone species like native bees, but also our forests, farms, and fisheries, putting lives and livelihoods at risk.

We’re taking bold steps to address the devastating effects of climate impacts at the state level, but it won’t be enough unless the entire country is in this together. That’s why it’s so important to support new opportunities for clean energy, jobs, justice, and nature conservation that are currently moving at the national level.

Learn more about the ongoing fight for climate action and environmental protections in D.C. at our upcoming virtual town hall with Senator Jeff Merkley.

OLCV Virtual Town Hall on the Environment with Senator Jeff Merkley

Date: Thursday, October 26, 2023

Time: 12:00 – 1:15 PM PT

Location: Zoom – Register here and submit a question for the senator!

Senator Merkley is a climate and environmental champion. He strongly supported and worked to pass the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure bill and Inflation Reduction Act, which made historic investments to help address the climate crisis and make progress on environmental justice. This year, he introduced the Pollinator Power Act to help reverse the decline in pollinator populations.

On October 26, Senator Merkley will update us on his legislation, talk to us about how the climate investments of the IRA will benefit Oregon, and answer selected audience questions. RSVP today to stay up-to-date about the town hall, and submit your own questions for Senator Merkley.
