Oceanside Action Partnership Newsletter Nov 25, 2023

Posted on November 28, 2023 by Editor

By Oceanside Action Partnership Board

As we approach the end of 2023, it is worth looking back on the monumental strides Oceanside has made to reach out to community resources and work with them to address our needs.
Fostering the talents of local residents in conjunction with partnerships from the city, county, state and federal levels has brought a unique and welcome influx of inclusivity and optimism to our area. Let’s keep the momentum going!
The OAP Board is happy to announce that as of November 8th, 2023 we were registered with the State of Oregon as a Domestic Not for Profit, for Public Benefit organization. On November 9th we were fully registered with the Oregon Department of Justice. Our application with the IRS for 501(c)3 status has been noted with “congressional monitoring” (thank you Congresswoman Bonamici) and awaits assignment and approval.

From our community workshops held earlier this year came our Community Investment Plan which prioritized the list of projects selected by the participant ranking. Next came the opportunity to join with your neighbors, collaborate with community partners, make new friends and build relationships to work on the tasks we chose as our priorities–to keep Oceanside the beautiful place where we love to live!
You signed up for the teams that you were interested in. We learned a little about each other’s professional backgrounds, areas of expertise, and how these life experiences may contribute to the success of the overall project. We shared ideas and contact information, arranged for future meeting dates and planned the agenda.
Our Small Teams are assembled; representing each of our neigh6orhoods with arms locked. There is representation from Radar Road to Grand Ave. We are hopeful that someone from The Capes will join so we have complete community coverage. We are a community united with the goal of successfully accomplishing our top priorities.

To kick off addressing the projects identified in the community workshops, volunteers have turned out with enthusiasm for the following:

1). Improving Cell Reception: Yuriy Chanba, Team Coordinator

2). Identifying and Maintaining Trails: Gail Chen-Deduonni, Team Coordinator

3). Designing and Installing Signage: Kris Woolpert, Team Coordinator

4). Mixed Use Path: Gill Wiggin, Team Coordinator

There are many other projects listed in the Community Investment Plan, and we intend to keep the momentum addressing them based on the volunteer interest in the future.

There is still time to join a group and provide your input and expertise. Please check out our webpage at oceansideactionpartnership.org and see where you fit in. Please sign up for a project group and spread the word! We want everyone to be included.
