GORDON’S UPDATE: Weather Thursday, December 14, 2023

Posted on December 14, 2023December 14, 2023 by Cara Mico, Assistant Editor

By Gordon McCraw, Meteorologist for the Tillamook County Pioneer

A weak, and weakening front drifted across this morning, bringing us some light precipitation in the form of mainly light rain, along with some heavy fog and patchy mist. The weak and dying front that gave us less than ¼” of rain, will stall to the east towards Portland. So, we still have a slight chance of light rain tonight that diminishes by around midnight, east wind 4-8, lows near 44.

Tomorrow, we see a ridge of high pressure building that brings us partly sunny, but dry skies, winds easterly 5-10, highs near 58, mostly cloudy skies tonight east winds 4-8, lows near 40.

Saturday starts out that way but a low pressure area looks to develop off the California Coast then starts to drift northward along the coast so we start out partly sunny Saturday with the east winds 4-8, and a high near 58, then some clouds move in that night, then a slight chance of rain in the early morning hours, the low near 42.

Sunday the low continues to drift northward, increasing our chance of rain by the afternoon, highs near 57, then the rain is likely by Sunday night, lows near 43. We are likely to see more rain associated with the low pressure area Monday and Tuesday as the low is just off the Oregon Coast, but weakened, then the chance of rain eases Wednesday as the low pressure area drifts back to the south. High temperatures during this period in the mid 50s, lows in the mid 40s.
