[Tillamook] – On Saturday, more than 500 Tillamook County Residents took to the streets as part of a nationwide day of peaceful protest on April 5, the largest single day of action since Donald Trump was sworn in for a second term. Participants called on Trump and Elon Musk to take their hands off the programs that Tillamook County residents rely on.
With Trump and congressional Republicans doubling down on their agenda to gut essential services, everyday Tillamook County residents are sending a clear message: Take your hands off our healthcare, our Social Security, our civil rights, our freedom, and our education to underscore the real-life consequences of these policies and show how our communities are fighting back.
Rally members met at Sue Elmore Park and then lined Highway 101 at the junction of Highway 6 and US 101. Organizers asked if folks were from Tillamook County and the answer was a resounding yes, a fact which is backed up by event registrations.
The event focused on Hands Off, where rally attendees from the Republican Party, Democratic Party, other small parties, and independents demanded the Trump Administration keep its hands off the necessary services they need and use. A large number of veterans called on the government to keep its hands off the Dept of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Social Security, both of which are desperately needed by older veterans.
Concerned residents are organizing in all communities in Tillamook County, making it clear to the people who are supposed to represent them that elected officials need to stand with them.
Indivisible Tillamook Coast Action is a rapidly growing non-partisan grassroots organization representing over 800 local Tillamook County Residents. ITCA is made up of members from both major political parties, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, plus many independents.
