In response to inquiries from The Oceansider, Tillamook Public Utility District (TPUD) officials have confirmed that the new Tillamook-Oceanside power transmission line will not commence service this fall as originally planned. In an Oceanside town hall last March, TPUD officials had expressed optimism that the additional electrical power transmission line servicing Oceanside and Netarts would be completed in time to help avoid weather-related outages that frequent our area during winter months.
TPUD public relations manager Joanna Stelzig advised that construction of the new power poles, lines and substation are on schedule, but that coordinating the new connections with Bonneville Power Administration and Pacific Power will probably not be completed until mid-2026. The PUD website features an overview of the project and its 60-year history.
