Rockaway Beach happenings:
The next monthly “last Tuesday” NCCWP Rockaway Beach meeting will be this Tuesday, September 30, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary by the Sea Parish Hall – 275 S. Pacific Street, Rockaway Beach
Meeting Agenda for September 30
1. Nedonna Wave development application denied:
We need to take a moment to celebrate the successful grassroots effort, citizen support, and vital assistance of Ocean Shores and the Crag Law Center that gave the Rockaway Beach City Council due cause to deny the Nedonna Wave application. The well-researched staff recommendations by the RB City Planner also played a key role in the denial.
2. Proposal to form task forces (outlined below).
3. Issues needing attention:
-
Nedonna Development – The developer’s application was denied unanimously by the RB City Council at the end of the hearing on September 9, but future actions by the City and developer need to be tracked. Task force? Volunteers?
-
The Nedonna drinking water aquifer and wetlands need permanent protection – Research and contact various entities that may be interested in helping establish permanent protections.Task force? Volunteers?
-
State Forest Management Plan – Focus on concerns and solutions for protecting all sources of drinking water from logging and pesticides. Four public hearings will be scheduled in November, with a deadline for comments in January.
-
Public Interest Environmental Law Conference in Eugene – March 12-15, 2026. Discuss potential for having an information table and/or a panel discussion.
FERNS refresher – How to be notified about logging and spraying activities in specified areas, as well as in specific drinking water supply systems.

NCCWP wants no more logging and pesticide use in community water sources regardless of who owns the land, and wants an end to pesticide applications near where people live, work and recreate. Safe drinking water and clean air are part of the public trust that we all are entitled to have. Please help North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection safeguard and restore our drinking watersheds. www.healthywatershed.org | www.facebook.com/NCCWATERSHEDPROTECTION For more information or to unsubscribe, contact rockawaycitizen.water@gmail.com
