The Great Oregon ShakeOut is TOMORROW, Thursday, October 16 at 10:16 AM!
Tillamook County Emergency Management will send out a Nixle/Everbridge alert about the Great ShakeOut. Not signed up for Nixle/Everbridge alerts? Sign up for emergency alerts: Stay informed by subscribing to alerts at ORalert.gov for emergency notifications tied to your zip code—including earthquake and tsunami alerts. And turn on the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on your phone, so you will receive alerts based on where your phone is located (important if you are visiting the coast).
Join local fire departments, emergency volunteers, and your neighbors as we practice what to do when the ground starts shaking.
FIRST: Drop, Cover, and Hold On! Then Move Out – Tillamook County takes it to the next level – if you are in the tsunami zone, grab your go-bag and practice evacuating out of the tsunami zone.
A few minutes of practice now can make all the difference during a real earthquake and tsunami. Do you know where your tsunami evacuation site is? What if you aren’t home when the earthquake and tsunami hits? Make a plan.
Be part of a community that’s ready — Be prepared, not scared!
