North Development announced this week that they are wrapping up renovation activities at the former Nehalem Bay House, now called Alder Creek Commons. As many of you know, Nehalem Bay House was an assisted living facility that closed during COVID. Through close coordination with Care and Oregon Housing and Community Services, North Development purchased the building and began renovations in April. The thirty-four rooms have been converted into twenty-four (24) independent, affordable apartments for seniors. Renovations included:
New roof, windows, siding; New flooring; New kitchens and appliances in each unit; New hot water system; Updated lighting; Expanded parking; New paint throughout; New bathroom vanities and fixtures; and Updated community space
The project will be complete by the end of October and they are now taking applications – see flyer. Cascade Management is the leasing company and they will be working with prospective residents on the paperwork. According Daryn Murphy, North Development owner, “We anticipate having units ready for occupancy around November 1st and we are working to schedule tours and an application day towards the end of October.”
Below is a summary of some of the affordability restrictions and unit mix
All units reserved for households earning 50% of AMI or less
Six units further reserved for households earning 30% of AMI – supported by project-based rental assistance from the Northwest Oregon Housing Authority
Six (6) Studio units
Sixteen (16) One bedroom units
Two (2) Two bedroom units
Head of household must be 55 years or older or disabled.
