Please join me for this week’s episode of From the District, I share what’s been happening across Senate District 16 since returning from Washington, D.C.
I visited Oregon State University (OSU) to talk with students about educational policy and the legislative process, leading to an important conversation about the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on our schools, workforce, and daily lives. AI is changing quickly, and we need thoughtful, non-partisan guardrails to keep students and communities safe.
I also break down Oregon’s recently passed transportation package and why so many Oregonians are stepping up to sign the referendum. In just the first three days, gathering more than 42,000 signatures to give voters, not just politicians, the final say. The bill’s gas tax hits rural communities the hardest, where families already travel long distances for work, school, and essential services.
Finally, I offer a brief update on my ongoing work to improve Oregon’s family court system, including new conversations with Senate President Wagner on how to move meaningful reforms forward.
