Progress you can drive on
We’re excited to announce that OR 6 is open to two-way traffic again, as of January 14, 2026. There will still be workers in the area.
If you’re driving in the area, please:
- Slow down.
- Watch for flaggers helping direct traffic.
- Use caution as crews install guardrail on Monday, January 19.
After the guardrail is installed, the emergency repairs will be complete and flagging operations will end.
We’d like to give a huge shout-out to Pihl Excavating, AAngels Traffic Control, Brix Paving and Columbia River Contracting for their hard work and dedication in rebuilding OR 6 and getting traffic back on the road.

Thank you for your patience
Following the December 2025 storm, a downhill landslide and sunken road damaged OR 6 near milepost 35.
This prompted a full road closure on December 19 while crews assessed conditions and stabilized the area.
Later that day, OR 6 reopened to one lane with alternating traffic.
Since then, crews have continued emergency repair work.
Work included:
- Creating a temporary lane to keep OR 6 open during repairs with 24/7 pilot cars and temporary signals.
- Removing slide material and debris.
- Building up the ground to meet the height of OR 6.
- Applying new pavement and striping.
