Community Organizations Partner with State of Oregon Emergency Management to Present Video, Listening Sessions, Sat. Jan. 24 in Oceanside; Sun. Jan. 25 in Cape Meares

Posted on January 17, 2026 by Editor

Oceanside Volunteer Emergency Response Team (OVERT) invites you to a Presentation and Listening Session by State of Oregon Emergency Management Officials at the Oceanside Community Hall on Saturday, January 24 at 10 a.m. featuring a showing of the video documentary:

“Rumblings: Preparing for Cascadia —  Are You Ready for the Big One?”

OVERT and the Cape Meares Community Association are partnering with State of Oregon Emergency Resilience officials to ensure that the state’s forthcoming “Plan for a Resilient Oregon” reflects the needs of Tillamook County’s communities, including Oceanside, Cape Meares and Netarts. The presentation will be offered twice in our area:  on Saturday, January 24 at the Oceanside Community Club and again on Sunday, January 25 at the Barbara Bennett Community Center in Cape Meares. Both presentations will run from 10 a.m. to noon.

These events are designed to provide information about the much-anticipated Cascadia earthquake. In addition, Governor Kotek’s representatives from the DHS Office of Resilience and Emergency Management will invite local input for the ongoing effort to formulate a “Plan for a Resilient Oregon” or “PRO.”  The PRO is a people-centered resilience strategy designed to help communities around Oregon adapt and prepare for increasingly likely disaster events. The video documentary, “Rumblings: Preparing for Cascadia” will also be shown followed by an opportunity for questions and comments. Cookies and beverages will be provided. For those unable to attend in person, please contact the Cape Meares Community Association for ZOOM login information at capemearesca@gmail.com.
