Dear community.
I am deeply saddened and angry as you all. I had taken a hiatus from the news, social media etc for a couple of days. It helped, until this killing, again.
I believe to help nurture our mental anguish is to do what I had done. I watch the British Bake Off. My daughter and I have started, in our own homes, with watching from episode one. It helps greatly. It is a loving competition and they give hugs. Whatever works for you.
Our nervous system can only take so much. Not being in the thick of it doesn’t mean you care less but will allow you to give when you can. To be able to do your daily activities, taking care of kids, loved ones, going to work and all the other errands of life. It will help lower your anxiety. Even if it is short lived, you are taking care of yourself, your mental well being.
Grieving is justified. Don’t add more news and social media on top of that. Lovingly care for yourself and your family. Turn off the tv, listen to music that soothes the heart, diffuse soothing essential oils, hot baths, play games with your family and friends. Find activities that make you laugh. Joy and laughter are healing.
After a fews days, when you feel stronger, join the protests, call your senators and representatives, send postcards. Help a neighbor who wants to join. Watch someone’s children so they can be active in this fight for our country. It helps tremendously to be with others of like mind. Creating plans and participating helps with the anxiety and a night sleep.
From the bottom of my heart I care about you and our country.
Lovingly,
