GORDON’S WEEKLY WEATHER UPDATE 3/30/26: Rain Returns Wednesday; Clearing Friday, Dry for Easter Weekend

Posted on March 30, 2026 by Editor

By Gordon McCraw, Meteorologist for the Tillamook County Pioneer
Thanks to a high pressure ridge building in today, and a weak cold front that pushed through yesterday, we had mostly clear skies overnight, allowing the temperature to drop down around 32 degrees early this morning. Now tonight, after enjoying a sunny day, we see partly cloudy skies with northerly winds 4-8, so the low drops to near 36.

Tomorrow, we are watching a system that is dropping down from the Gulf of Alaska. This will give us partly sunny skies as the clouds start to push in on Tuesday, and with light winds, the high tomorrow is up around 56 again. We see increasing cloudiness tomorrow night with the rain moving in a little before midnight. The winds tomorrow night becoming southerly 4-8, the low is only near 41.

With a system pushing in Wednesday, it will be a rainy day with winds becoming southwesterly 5-10 gusting to 25, with gusts to 35-40 at the beaches. We can also expect Gale Force winds offshore to generate some increasing seas leading to an increasing sneaker wave threat. Still rainy but not quite as breezy on Wednesday night, the low is near 38. The snow level Wednesday night drops to around 2500-3000’, so we can expect some snow in the higher Coast Range Mountains, but the passes will just be wet. Total rainfall for Wednesday should be around ¾ to 1 ¼” of rain.

With the associated trough of low pressure moving across Thursday, it remains rainy, which does ease some by the afternoon, the high near 53, still a chance of rain Thursday night, the low near 38.

Good news for the weekend, high pressure returns Friday so we can expect mostly sunny days, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the highs up around 60, the overnight lows down near 40. Pleasant Spring like weather for all the Easter egg hunts on Saturday and Sunday. Happy Easter All!
