Born in W. Portland (Multnomah County) September 8th, 1932, the sixth child of Norbert and Angela Dieringer. Graduated from St. Johns Catholic Grade School, received a high school diploma from Mt. Angel Seminary, earned a B.A. at Mt. Angel Seminary, and a M. Divinity at St. Edward’s Seminary in Seattle, WA. Later earned a M.A. in Dogmatic and Systematic Theology from St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. Ordained a Priest for the Archdiocese of Portland, OR may 24th, 1958 at the Cathedral in Portland. Assigned to St. Joseph the Worker and St. Anne in southeast Portland. Assigned to St. Mary Parish in Corvallis, OR in 1963 and appointed Newman Chaplain at OSU in 1965. Assigned to St. Joseph in Oregon City in 1966. Assigned to St. Joseph in Salem, OR and as Newman Chaplin at Willamette U. in 1967. Assigned to Our Lady of the mountain in Ashland, OR and Newman Chaplin at SOC (Now SOU) in 1968. Earned Masters degree at St. Louis University in 1970. Assigned to Lane Community College in Eugene, OR in 1971 to develop the Campus Ministry. Retired from Lane C.C. in 1997. In addition to campus ministry, taught night adult education classes in wood shop at L.C.C. Substitute at many Parishes in Eugene and surrounding areas during my time there. Moved to Pacific City, OR upon retiring and built a 39-foot geodesic dome, where I lived out my days. Kept active as a priest by substituting on weekends mainly in Coastal Parishes. In 2018 became the weekend priest St. Joseph, Cloverdale, OE for two years.
Hobbies, etc.: Woodworking, crafting, and repairing, reading, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and dory fishing.
Clubs, etc.: Knights of Columbus- 4th degree, Nestucca Valley Lions, Pacific City Dorymen’s Association, President’s Club L.C.C.
