GORDON’S WEEKLY WEATHER UPDATE 4/27/26: Thickened marine layer persists through Tuesday then another trough likely just increases cloudiness midweek before summerish weather drops

Posted on April 27, 2026 by Editor

We had a fair, dry, and mild weekend, but today, we saw the marine layer push across the coast and inland, into the valley.  We also had a weak disturbance push across bringing some patchy light drizzle today. This increasing onshore flow also cooled the temperatures down today. Now tonight we see some mostly cloudy skies with light winds, and we could see some patchy fog by around midnight, the low near 45.

Tomorrow looks to be somewhat similar with mostly cloudy skies and a slight chance of drizzle, mainly in the morning hours, then things start to break up in the afternoon, and we see mostly sunny skies with the winds becoming northwesterly 4-8, the high temperature tomorrow near 58.  With mostly clear skies tomorrow night and calm winds, we are likely to see the patchy fog developing by around midnight again, the overnight low near 40.

It looks like another ridge of high pressure builds in for Wednesday and Thursday bringing mostly sunny skies with highs around 65, and with mostly clear nights the low down near 45, we could see some patchy fog though in the early morning hours Thursday morning.

The models suggests that on Friday into Saturday we could see a weak trough of low pressure flatten the ridge and push across the area, but it look like all it will do for us is increase the cloudiness bringing partly sunny days with the highs around 63, and mostly cloudy nights, the lows near 45.

The ridge of high pressure builds back in by Sunday and brings back some mostly sunny skies and pushes the afternoon high temperature peaking up into the low 70s, and with partly cloudy nighttime skies, the low only drops into the mid to upper 40s.

It appears we say mostly sunny with things cooling back into the mid 60s for the start of next week.
