ELECTION NEWS: Tillamook County’s Max Sherman Wins Republican Primary for Oregon House District 32

Posted on May 20, 2026 by Editor

He Pledges to Restore Trust and Accountability to Oregon’s North Coast

(HEBO, OR) — Max Sherman has won the Republican nomination for Oregon House District 32, emerging from a competitive three-way primary after a grassroots campaign focused on restoring trust, supporting North Coast communities, and standing up for working families.
Sherman, a retired teacher, farmer, and longtime community leader, spent months traveling throughout the district meeting voters from Astoria to Tillamook County and listening to concerns about rising costs, government overreach, and the future of Oregon’s natural resource industries.
“I am deeply honored and humbled by the trust voters have placed in me,” Sherman said Wednesday morning. “This campaign was built by hardworking people who care deeply about the future of the North Coast. I’m incredibly grateful to every volunteer, donor, supporter, and voter who helped make this victory possible.”

Sherman ran a positive, grassroots-focused campaign centered on accountability, affordability, and support for agriculture, timber, fishing, education, and rural communities. During the campaign, Sherman earned the endorsements of Oregon Farm Bureau, Oregon Right to Life, Stand for Health Freedom, former Senator Betsy Johnson, and numerous respected community leaders across District 32.
Sherman also became one of the most visible opponents of Measure 120 and the state transportation package supported by Representative Cyrus Javadi. Sherman helped gather signatures to place the measure on the ballot and later joined legal efforts challenging the attempt to move the referendum vote to the May election.
“People across this district feel ignored and taken for granted,” Sherman said. “This campaign has always been about standing up for the people who work hard, raise families, and keep our coastal communities strong.”
Sherman thanked his fellow Republican candidates for running respectful campaigns and called for unity moving into the general election.
“Now it’s time to come together,” Sherman said. “We may have had different candidates in this primary, but we share a common goal: restoring honest leadership and strong representation for House District 32.”
Sherman will face Democrat Representative Cyrus Javadi in the November general election.
