(From community member that requested anonymous post.)
I sent the following letter to the board of the Nehalem clinic, their CEO, and the board of the Nehalem Bay Health District. I hope you’ll join me in calling for the clinic to continue with the vitally important service of acupuncture, aka TRADITIONAL MEDICINE.)
“Dear Members of the Board,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to respectfully ask that Nehalem Bay Health Center continue offering acupuncture services as part of its patient care programs.
For many members of our community, acupuncture provides meaningful relief from chronic pain, stress, recovery challenges, and other ongoing health concerns. In a rural coastal area where access to diverse healthcare options can sometimes be limited, these services offer patients an important complementary approach to wellness and healing.
Acupuncture is especially valuable because it can support patients who are seeking non-opioid pain management options, holistic care, and additional tools for improving quality of life. Many patients have found it to be an effective part of their treatment plans alongside traditional medical care.
Beyond the direct health benefits, continuing acupuncture services reflects the Health Center’s commitment to whole-person care and to meeting the varied needs of the community you serve. Programs like this help patients feel heard, supported, and empowered in their healthcare journeys.
I understand that difficult financial and operational decisions must often be made, and I sincerely appreciate the work and dedication of the Board and staff. I simply ask that you carefully consider the positive impact acupuncture has had on patients and families in our region before making any decisions regarding its future.
Thank you for your time, service, and continued commitment to the health and well-being of our community.”
