At 4:09 PM today, June 14, 2026, Nestucca Rural Fire Protection District crews were dispatched to the intersection of Ella Avenue and Ray Drive for a report of downed power lines, a grass fire, and a tree fire threatening a four-unit residential structure.
Upon arrival, crews quickly stopped the fire from reaching the structure, extinguished the tree fire, and suppressed the grass fire. Crews remain on scene conducting overhaul operations and ensuring there are no rekindles.
We would like to recognize and thank a local resident, Mr. Williams for immediately taking action to slow the spread of the fire prior to our arrival. Using a garden hose, he helped keep the fire small while crews were responding. While we do not recommend citizens engage in firefighting activities due to the inherent dangers, especially around downed power lines, we sincerely appreciate Mr. Williams’ quick thinking and efforts, which may have prevented further damage to the four residences.

We would also like to thank our assisting agencies and partners:
• Tillamook Fire District for their initial response
• North Lincoln Fire & Rescue for providing district coverage during the incident
• Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office and Sandlake Sheriff Patrol for traffic control assistance
• CERT volunteers for assisting with traffic management and keeping bystanders away from the downed power lines
• Tillamook PUD for responding to secure and mitigate the electrical hazard
This incident serves as an important reminder to always stay far away from downed power lines and immediately call 911. Assume all power lines are energized and dangerous.
