GORDON’S WEEKLY WEATHER UPDATE 6/15/26: After Sunday’s Heat Wave, Cooler Monday, Return to More Seasonal Temps This Week

Posted on June 15, 2026 by Editor

By Gordon McCraw, Meteorologist for the Tillamook County Pioneer

As promised, it was a warm one yesterday (Sunday June 14, 2026), I saw 70s and 80s down at the beaches, with temperatures in the 90s around town. As I type this, today (Monday) doesn’t look to be quite as warm with the high temperature this afternoon, only in the low 80s thanks to the winds shifting back to an onshore flow.  The valley was not so lucky with afternoon highs there in the mid to upper 90s again.  Tonight, we are looking at mostly clear skies with calm winds, the low around 56.

With the increased onshore flow, tomorrow (Tuesday) things will cool back down to more seasonable temperatures. We see mostly sunny skies, the winds now northwesterly 8-12 gusting to 18, the afternoon high only near 67, then a partly cloudy night, still some breezy northerly winds gusting to 20 that ease by around midnight, the low near 52.

Wednesday looks to be pretty much a repeat with mostly sunny skies still, the northwesterly winds 8-12 gusting to 18, and the afternoon high near 66. Wednesday night looks partly cloudy with the overnight low near 51.

The ridge of high pressure looks to return Thursday, and though we do see some clouds creeping in bringing partly sunny skies, the high peaks up into the low 70s. That night we have partly cloudy skies, the low near 54.

Friday, a trough of low pressure that had been sitting off the coast starts drifting in which helps to cool things down once again, the high only near 68, then with increasing cloudiness, the low near 53.

The sun returns for the weekend with mostly sunny skies later Saturday through Sunday, highs near 67, lows under partly cloudy skies, near 53.

A quick comment about an update from the Climate Prediction Center folks.  They advise that over the past month the waters in the central and eastern Pacific have started to warm and therefore, El Nino conditions have developed, and the temperatures are still expected to continue to rise.  I again mention that even in strong El Nino events, they sometimes do not lead to significant impact everywhere, but do increase the odds of seeing those impacts. Stay tuned – we’ll keep an eye on things for you.
