Listen, learn and engage with a focus on the creation and evolution of the American Declaration of Independence as we celebrate its 250 anniversary. Marc C. Johnson, a political historian who lives in north Tillamook County, will lead this program with a presentation about how the Declaration came about and how its meaning and importance have shaped American and world political thought since 1776.
Abraham Lincoln, said just before the Civil War: “The authors of [the Declaration] set up a standard maxim for a free society,” and Lincoln drew heavily upon the Declaration and its meaning during the nation’s darkest hour.
