The Tillamook County Family YMCA is excited to share that later this year the group fitness classes will be moving into a newly dedicated fitness studio. The studio will be at 401 Madrona Avenue in Tillamook, the former St. Peter Lutheran Church. The church building was gifted to the Tillamook YMCA earlier this year from the congregation to provide the most benefit for the community. According to Tillamook Family YMCA Healthy Living Director Kelly Benson, “It’s an amazing space that will enhance our fitness class experience, and provide a calm restorative atmosphere for our members. I’m so excited the Y has this beautiful, light-filled space for classes.”
This transition is an exciting opportunity to better serve our YMCA members, instructors, and the entire Tillamook County community while creating more space for the programs and services our community needs most.
What’s changing
By relocating group fitness, we will be able to:
- Create more opportunities for families to participate in YMCA programs.
- Strengthen the ways we support our community.
- Expand childcare offerings for children ages 3–12, helping address one of the greatest needs we hear from local families.
Our vision is to create a:
- Welcoming and functional fitness studio.
- Purpose-built space designed specifically for group fitness.
- Connected with YMCA experience where members can continue enjoying access to the pool, gym, current YMCA facility, and other programs and services.
Benefits:
This move will help us better support both fitness and family needs by:
- Creating a dedicated environment for group fitness classes.
- Providing a space where members and instructors can continue building connections and reaching wellness goals.
- Expanding childcare access so more families can participate in YMCA programs.
The new fitness studio will be designed with our members’ experience in mind, creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable, inspired, and excited to continue their wellness journey.
What to expect:
We understand that changes like this bring questions, and we are committed to keeping our members, instructors, and community informed throughout the process.
As we plan this transition, we will focus on:
- Creating a space that reflects the strength of our group fitness community.
- Ensuring members feel comfortable and supported during the move.
- Sharing updates about the timeline, studio improvements, and what to expect along the way. We will continue providing information as plans develop.
Thank you for your continued support, flexibility, and dedication to the YMCA. Your commitment is what makes our YMCA such a special place, and we are grateful for the opportunity to grow and serve our community together.
Together, we’re building a stronger YMCA for today and for the future.
