EDITOR’S NOTE: Community kindness – we can all use a little more kindness in our lives. Let’s celebrate these “micro-moments” of kindness that make our days a little easier, a shared smile, a helping hand … tell us about the connections you make in our community, editor@tillamookcountypioneer.net.

I was saddened to hear of Manzanita Branch librarian, Tara, being transferred to the main branch. She’s in Manzanita till the end of the month. She created this sweet little “farewell zine” using one piece of paper folded into a little book. What a great little gift! So clever, heartfelt and creative. (See below for Tara’s Zine.)
There is a website called Kajsa Love https://kajsaallison.com/kajsalove. “KAJSA LOVE is a community art initiative sending beautiful mail as a gift of the heart to anyone who asks.”
I have been participating as a sender for several months. This month’s request was from a man in Texas who has recently lost both his dad and his wife. After Chuck’s passing, I received a plethora of beautiful, sweet cards and thought they might be an inspiration for what to send him. I had a lovely, tearful morning of rereading all those cards. (Such a GREAT community we have!) And then I thought maybe I could use Tara’s design to make him a little book and lo and behold was able to figure out how to make one using her sample. So, I spent the day making his little book and to my surprise it turned out pretty good.
Kindness from
Tara for her gift to us and using her creation as an inspiration
Kajsa Love for creating a method to share kindness and creativity
My community for their heartfelt words to me after Chuck’s death
To myself for being able to create something for someone else.
Keep Kindness Going! It matters. It means a lot. It lifts us up—both giver and receiver.
Love, Barbara McLaughlin
