The International Police Museum, following in the tradition of past Rockaway Beach Chiefs Wortman and Stewart, is bringing back National Night Out to Rockaway Beach. If you have not yet been to see IPM’s “new digs” or – if you already have been to our new expanded location – come see what is new in the last month, or even the last week. Meet your local law enforcement, enjoy refreshments and community. Come join us for this national community event on August 4, 320 Hwy 101-S in Rockaway Beach from 4-7 pm.
National Night Out was established in August 1984 by Matt Peskin of the National Association of Town Watch to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood safety. NNO began simply with neighbors turning on their front porch lights and sitting outside their homes as a symbolic vigil against crime. The First Turnout involved 2.5 million residents across 400 communities in 23 states. Today: NNO involves over 38 million people across 16,000+ communities in all fifty states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide.
