The event will be held from noon to 2pm at Hoquarton Park at 11 Main Ave., east of the Veterans Memorial on Front Street.
This family-friendly event will feature a picnic, a patriotic dog parade and a Top Dog Contest. The winner of the contest will be selected by event attendees, and will receive a prize! Donations for our local animal shelters of pet food and gift cards would be greatly appreciated.
Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic, blanket and patriotic costumes for themselves and their dogs.
Guests are encouraged to make signs like, “Dogs for Democracy,” “Paws for Peace,” “Canines for the Constitution,” or “Pawed Proletariat!”
After the picnic, participants and their dogs will parade from Hoquarton Trail, around the Farmers Market, then return to the park on Pacific Ave. This is an updated route.
Event memorabilia will be available for a donation, including Dogs for Democracy buttons, patriotic bandanas, fun poop bags, and a dog photo booth. Orders for Picnic and Parade calendars will be available at the event.
A donation of pet food or pet-food gift cards are greatly appreciated!
For everyone’s safety, ALL dogs MUST be leashed and led by someone over 12-years-old.
“Dogs for Democracy is a fun event, bringing concerned citizens and their canine companions together for a light-hearted, patriotic celebration centered on dogs, friendship, peace and democracy,” said Don Backman, spokesperson for Indivisible Tillamook Coast Action (ITCA).
“Indivisible Tillamook Coast Action is committed to making a paws-itive difference! We support a safe and healthy world for everyone, including our tail-wagging friends!,” states ITCA Co-Head, Romy Carver.
*A core principle behind all Indivisible Tillamook Coastal Action events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
