Hello, Tillamook, I hope you had a great holiday weekend, even though it was a wet one. It looks like we had about 1.37” of rain in the last 7 days, which is already approaching nearly half of the average monthly September rainfall total of 3”. Now it looks like we will have a break with fair, dry and mild conditions until the next chance of rain, that of course, comes at the end of the week and weekend.
We saw mostly clear skies Tesday night, with the winds dying off late, the low tonight near 54. Today, Wednesday looks to be another sunny day as the high pressure ridge strengthens, the winds becoming northwesterly 4-8, and the afternoon high temperature near 74. Tomorrow night we see increasing cloudiness, and with some calm winds, there is a chance of some patchy early morning fog, the low near 56.
On Thursday the ridge starts to get pushed to the east, ahead of a weak trough of low pressure that is pushing down from the northwest, so we can expect mostly cloudy skies with the winds becoming northerly 5-10, the high temperature only near 67. The patchy fog does return Thursday night under partly to mostly cloudy skies, the low down near 50.
Friday looks to be partly sunny and cooler, with another trough dropping south from Canada, the high only up near 66, then add a chance of rain by around midnight under mostly cloudy skies, the low again near 50.
As for the weekend, well, the trough moves through by around noon Saturday leaving us with a chance of rain in the morning then a chance of showers and maybe even a thunderstorm in the afternoon, the high near 66, that leaves us with just a widely scattered shower chance for Saturday night into Sunday, when the afternoon high is in the upper 60s.
There is a couple of models that disagree, but most say it looks like by Monday we return to mostly sunny skies with the afternoon high up near 71.
Lastly, for the star gazers, a new moon is expected by the end of this week creating ideal dark conditions to look for Saturn rising to the east at sunset, the Jupiter and Mars to the east just before sunup. Venus will be lower on the horizon in the evening making it harder to spot.
