We had another cool and soggy weekend where we added another, just over half-an-inch of rain, bringing the total for the month just under 2”. If you remember from one of my previous posts, the monthly average for September is around 3” so we are looking good for the month so far. Now, it looks like this week will be drier and warming, through the weekend.
So, the low pressure area bringing the recent rain has moved on off to the east, but left us with some cloudiness today. Tonight, we see increasing marine clouds, along with some patchy fog, with the calm winds, the overnight low near 47.
Tomorrow, a ridge of high pressure starts to influence the weather, so after the morning clouds and fog burn off, then we see a mostly sunny day with the winds becoming northwesterly 5-10, the high up near 66, then a partly cloudy night though we could see the patchy fog returning again, late, with calm winds, the low down near 48.
The ridge continues to build Wednesday, bringing us a sunny afternoon with northerly winds 4-8, the high climbs to near 73. Look for mostly clear skies Wednesday night, with calm winds, the low near 54.
It appears Thursday will be another nice, mild day with sunny skies and a high near 73, then a mostly clear night, the low near 53.
Friday the models start get mixed, with about half thinking the ridge will keep us on the warmer side still, while the other half say things will be cooler. For now, let’s go with Friday being mostly sunny and 70, with a chance of patchy early morning fog, then partly to mostly sunny skies for the weekend with the highs around 68, then with some patchy early morning fog both nights, the lows dropping to near 50.
A quick look at the current wildfire situation shows the largest one of the 30 remaining fires continues to be the Rowe Creek Complex Fire that extends through Wheeler, Crook and Jefferson Counties, and has burned about 717,000 acres. Hopefully, the season will continue to wind down, and we can close to book on this busy season.
