Oregon voters can make sure they are ready to vote by registering or confirming their voter registration online
(SALEM, OR) — Today, September 15, is National Voter Registration Day, and Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read is encouraging Oregonians to mark the day by registering to vote or making sure their voter registration is up to date.
Oregonians can register to vote at OregonVotes.gov/Register or can check their registration at OregonVotes.gov/MyVote.
To register, prospective voters will need an Oregon driver license or ID card, or the last four digits of their Social Security number.
Only U.S. citizens who reside in Oregon and are at least 16 years old can register to vote. Registered voters must be at least 18 years old by election day to receive a ballot.
“It takes less than 2 minutes to register to vote or to check your voter registration to make sure you are ready to cast your ballot this November,” Secretary Read said. “Voting is how citizens hold government and politicians accountable, it’s how we select representatives at all levels of government, and it’s how we collectively decide the direction for our state and our nation. Your vote is your power. Use it.”
Yesterday, September 14, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected President Donald Trump’s attempt to restrict mail-in voting ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, blocking changes that would have caused major disruption just days before the first ballots are sent to Oregon voters.
The decision is the latest in a series of court rulings preserving states’ constitutionally-granted authority to administer elections and allowing existing mail-voting rules to remain in place for the midterms.
“Oregon will vote-by-mail in the November election. Eligible voters should plan to return their ballots via secure drop box or mail them back at least seven days early,” said Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read.
“This is a victory for Oregonians, the right to vote, and the rule of law. This provides voters and elections officials with the certainty they need ahead of a major, federal election, and it sends a clear message to this country: Presidents don’t run elections, the people do.”
