I will vote for Governor Tina Kotek. Here are just a few of the reasons.
Governor Kotek acknowledges the dangers of the climate crisis and works to find ways to create a healthy environment for current and future Oregonians. Her Executive Order 25-26 accelerates climate protections for land, water, and communities, and Executive Order 25-29 supports reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing Oregon’s clean energy future. Her opponent wants to eliminate climate-related regulations.
Governor Kotek reacted to the federal cuts to food assistance (SNAP) by declaring a food security emergency and directed millions of state funds to support local food banks and tribal communities.
Governor Kotek understands the effects that current and future planned federal cuts to Medicaid will have on Oregonians. She convened a council to explore solutions to the $421 million cut in Oregon’s federal Medicaid funding passed by Congress. Kotek’s goal is to “keep as many people insured with the best level of care possible.” Her opponent voted against a bill to extend funding to help stabilize the Oregon Health Plan (Oregon’s Medicaid program).
Governor Kotek stood up to Trump’s deploying the National Guard to Portland when he claimed an “emergency” existed. Kotek protected Oregon state’s right to determine appropriate use of the Oregon National Guard.
Governor Kotek supports women’s reproductive healthcare rights and believes women’s reproductive choices should be free from government restrictions. Her opponent opposes the right to abortion access in Oregon.
Governor Kotek defends Oregon’s vote-by-mail. Her opponent sponsored Oregon HB3872 which would make in-person voting on election day the standard in Oregon. Kotek believes in Oregon’s vote-by-mail saying, “It’s secure, trusted, and gives every eligible Oregonian a voice.”
Governor Kotek has declared that hardships for Oregonians caused by rising grocery and gas prices are the direct result of the Trump administration tariffs and endless war with Iran.
I’m not willing to risk losing climate crisis advancements in Oregon, losing our vote-by-mail system, or losing a women’s right to choose. I am voting for Governor Tina Kotek because she stands up for all of us, not just for a few.
