Musical Story Time with the Symphony!!
Giraffes can’t dance! This delightful story by Giles Andreae and GuyParker-Rees is the focus of the North Oregon Coast Symphony’s October Musical Storytime education outreach program. This free, hands-on activity for preschoolers will be offered three times in October. The first program will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 5th at the North Tillamook Library in Manzanita. The second story time will be Wednesday, October 7th at 10:30 a.m. at the Seaside Library. On Thursday October 8th the event will be held at 10:30 at the Astoria Library. This outreach program for children ages 2 to 5, will feature live accompaniment by flute and violin musicians.
Giraffes Can’t Dance is a joyful tale about finding your own rhythm, inspiration, and confidence. With vibrant illustrations and captivating rhythm, children will be swaying, stomping, and smiling from start to finish.
After the reading, each musician will explain a bit more about her respective instrument and demonstrate playing them. Then children will have the opportunity to play a violin and wind instrument. These events are planned monthly in partnership between North Oregon Coast Symphony, North Tillamook Library, Seaside Library and Astoria Library.
