This Libra New Moon takes place on the 10th of October but lasts for a month because of it’s involvement with Venus retrograde which is until the next New Moon on November 13th. It is a very intense New Moon that is demanding for us to look at the dark underbelly of our relationships (inside and out) and unflinchingly address them.
In order to sort this out, let us look at the intent of the air sign of Libra that Venus watches over. This path is devoted to learning the art of relationships and developing an understanding of what it means to be in conscious equal relationships that are balanced. In the ancient wisdom of “as within, so without”, we also have some work to do internally to have healthy relationships.
Let’s face it, we need each other to develop into a well-rounded individual. There are many transformations that occur only under the alchemy of being in relationships. They round our edges, develop our compassion and give us courage (from support or defense.)
BUT one must also have the right balance (keyword) with having healthy boundaries and making sure your needs are met as well as the person you’re in relationship with. Libras forget that they need air to breathe once in a while, and that it helps keep the balance. They can lose themselves in others.
This New Moon is unveiling the shadow work we need to do in our relationships with not only our peeps but with ourselves.
Venus, the governess of Libra, is retrograde in Scorpio right now and eventually, will back into Libra. This is a big deal Earthlings as she only does this once every other year and only for 40(ish) days. This is her last time going retrograde in Scorpio for many centuries! Venus is there on business to wrap up this Scorpio curriculum and move into Libra.
Her intent in Scorpio is to shake the skeletons out of the closets so that deep and meaningful relationships are possible. Venus is cleaning house!
She asks us, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” (Mary Oliver) Not what others, or our culture want, but what do we WANT? NEED? What is our in the belly, deepest desire?
Venus is also square Mars in Leo and opposing Pluto right now. In plain-speak, this is a powerful transit that is driving us out of our carefully, curated cozy nests to strive for more meaning. Better relationships, better me, and therefore, a better us.
Venus is the planet that represents everything we value, so it is not just about us in relationships, but also about community, finances, beauty and anything that brings you meaning and pleasure.
You may find lots of shadows creeping out this next month that want to be acknowledged and tended to.
