Posted on October 17, 2026 by Editor

Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS, Bay City Arts Center, and Tillamook Pioneer Museum invite the community and visitors to a special two-day celebration November 6–7, 2026, at the Bay City Arts Center located at 5680 A Street, Bay City.

Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with two days of art, culture, shopping, and learning.  Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS (Watershed, Estuary, Beach, and Sea), Bay City Arts Center, and Tillamook Pioneer Museum are coming together to host a series of events honoring Native American artists, businesses, and cultural traditions.

Bay City Art Center Gallery Opening – Friday, November 6 from 5 pm to 7 pm

The celebration begins Friday, November 6, with Bay City Art Center’s Artist of the Month Gallery Opening. The center will be open to the public from 5 pm to 7pm. Native American artists Kitana Connelly of Twahna Creation, www.twahnacreation.com, Amanda Freeman of Ampkwa Images, www.Ampwaimages.com and Leonard Harmon of Leonard Harmon Fine Art, www.leonardharmonfineart.com, will share their work as part of the center’s featured Artists of the Month exhibit. Guests are invited to explore the artwork, meet community members, and celebrate the creativity and perspectives of Indigenous artists. No registration required – come anytime during Gallery hours.

Native American Marketplace – Saturday, November 7 from 10 am to 4 pm

On Saturday, November 7, the festivities continue with the 2026 Native American Marketplace, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can discover and purchase goods from Native American-owned businesses and producers. From food and teas to beadwork and abstract art, the marketplace offers something for everyone while providing an opportunity to support Indigenous entrepreneurs and artisans. No registration required – come anytime during market hours!

Traditional Ecological Knowledge on the Oregon Coast – Saturday, November 7

Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS, Tillamook Pioneer Museum, and Bay City Art Center are also inviting you to a special presentation, “Traditional Ecological Knowledge on the Oregon Coast,”  Presented by Molly Leno, Co-Executive Director of Rooted Ways, and Stephanie Craig, founder of Kalapura Weaving & Consulting and the Co-Executive Director of Rooted Ways, the talk will take place during the Native American Marketplace and will be held at the Bay City Art Center auditorium on November 7 from 1–3 p.m.

In this deeply rooted and reflective presentation, Stephanie and Molly will share the lifeways of the Tillamook people, whose ancestral lands and waters include the Netarts area. Their talk will illuminate the enduring relationships between land, culture, and community resilience. The presenters will introduce Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) as a living system grounded in care, reciprocity, and long-term environmental stewardship. The presentation will include time for reflection and audience questions, along with opportunities to view cultural items, including baskets, plant materials, and weaving displays.

Registration is required, and space is limited for the presentation. Visit Netartsbaywebs.org/events for more information.

Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS, Bay City Arts Center, and Tillamook Pioneer Museum are grateful to the guest presenters, artists, and vendors who are generously sharing their knowledge, skills, creativity, and handmade products with the community. Together, these events offer an opportunity to celebrate Indigenous artistry, learn about the rich cultural heritage of the Oregon Coast, and deepen our understanding of the connections between people, place, and the natural world.

Cost: There is no cost to attend these events. Donations are appreciated.
