Tillamook County Commissioners Support Rachel Armitage for State Senate

Posted on October 24, 2026 by Mary Faith Bell

Senate District 16 needs Rachel Armitage.

In 2022, Rachel Armitage was appointed by commissioners from six counties—Clatsop, Columbia, Multnomah, Tillamook, Washington, and Yamhill—to finish her predecessor’s term.

Rachel promised commissioners that she’d be an independent voice for the district who could stop harmful legislation in a short session, and she kept her promise.

Rachel carried a key piece of the Private Forest Accord and worked across the aisle to pass a study on Highway 6. She also voted against her party and amended several bills to minimize or eliminate their harmful impacts on this district. After the session ended, Rachel spent the rest of the year traveling across the district—holding coffees, meeting constituents, and advocating for federal support of projects like the Nehalem Bay Health Center & Pharmacy in Tillamook County.

After her time in the legislature, Rachel worked at the Oregon Community Foundation, where she delivered additional resources to senior centers, food banks, arts organizations, and more. She knows the district well.

Rachel understands that communities outside the I-5 corridor often feel that we are on our own. Our communities depend on health care that stays open, housing that working families can afford, and infrastructure that is maintained. With limited state revenue, decisions made in Salem over the next four years will matter to every county.

That’s why we support Rachel. She listens. We know she will work hard, build bridges, and put the interests of this district above all else.

We ask you to join us and elect Rachel Armitage to represent District 16 in the Oregon State Senate.

Sincerely,

Mary Faith Bell – Tillamook County Commissioner
Erin Skaar – Tillamook County Commissioner
Lianne Thompson – Clatsop County Commissioner
Pamela Wev – Clatsop County Commissioner
Mike Brosius – Clatsop County Commissioner Elect
Margaret Magruder – Columbia County Commissioner
Kellie Jo Smith – Columbia County Commissioner
Henry Heimuller – Former Columbia County Commissioner
