NORTH COUNTY RESISTANCE: SAVING DEMOCRACY; VOTE-VOTE-VOTE

Posted on October 25, 2026 by Editor

EDITOR’S NOTE:  Here are a couple of reminders from our friends at the North County Resistance.  In case you missed it – they gathered in Manznaita for the fourth international “No Kings” rally – and with over 300 strong, made quite an impact (see below for the video.)  Back to Nehalem yesterday, Saturday October 24th – and notching in with week number 88, that a dedicated group has gathered, every Saturday from Noon to 2 pm. As noted below, they’ll be there next Saturday, Highway 101, downtown Nehalem.  Now there are more weekly protests – in Tillamook on Saturdays from Noon to 2pm, and on Sundays from 1 to 2pm.

Dear Friends,

Saving Democracy: This topic comes up in conversations several times a day. For some it is protesting. You get out there and you call people and policies every name in the book. You use a lot of energy on this. To others it means you put the petal to the metal and start writing to people we’ve elected and make your opinions known and have faith in the people you are writing to believe what you believe and will vote to do something about it. Hmm, now this word VOTE has come into the conversation. Just what does saving democracy mean to you?  I dare say if you ask 10 people you may get 10 different answers.

North County Resistance has met for two years plus for a peaceful protest either in Nehalem or Manzanita. Rain or shine we show up. Nearly 40 people and 5 dogs showed up this past weekend in Nehalem to protest Trump and his horrible way of treating our country and its citizens. I believe perhaps I should capitalize PROTEST. To an individual we are angry. Our Democracy is no longer. Our parents and our parents’ parents would be ashamed. It is like our Constitution was never written. What happened to our three branches of government?

Rep. Cyrus Javadi joined the North County Resistance on Saturday October 24, 2026

Members of our Peaceful Protest Group, North County Resistance, are people with real feelings just like everybody else. As we are in this election phase and will be for just a little over a week, some of us are beginning to show some of our pent-up anger. We are reacting to Trumpers, people who drive by hollering out their windows, giving us a thumbs down, or a middle finger up. Just know we are listening to you and do hope you are listening to us. Are these people angry because all our futures are getting out of control because of Trump? We are all angry about gas prices, food prices, cuts to school programs, food programs, homelessness, Ukraine, and who knows what all when the final chips fall.  I hope you are angry enough to get out and vote! Voting now is the most positive action we can all take.

Yes, we will be back in Nehalem on Saturday, October 31, from noon to 2 PM. North County Resistance invites you to this peaceful protest and we hope you will join us.

ABOUT VOTING – Use a Ballot Box!

If you drop a letter in the mail today, will it be postmarked today?

KGW put the U.S. Postal Service to the test, mailing 100 letters from dozens of locations across Oregon on the same day.

Only 14 of the 100 letters received a same-day postmark. Another 85 were postmarked one or two days later. One envelope arrived without a postmark at all.

One thing this tells us is to get our ballots into ballot boxes.  Or you can mail it, but get it in the mail NOW! Everybody should have their ballots by now. If you don’t have yours yet and you are a registered voter, call your county election officials. If you live in Tillamook County that number would be 503-842-3402. It is my understanding that the ballots in the ballot box here in Manzanita are picked up three times a week.

Another topic we are hearing about is “Election Day Reaction”.  We certainly don’t need another batch of people rioting in Washington D.C. like they did on January 6, 2021, when thousands of Trump supporters were protesting the results of the 2020 election. This is where our Congress and House need to get their act together and stop this before it even looks like it is going to happen. Trump did nothing to stop this riot. People were killed. Again, our elected officials, at all levels, need to make sure another riot does not start. Let’s give those people a call and let them know how we feel about this.

To get contact information, type into your browser: “How to contact Oregon U.S. Senators and Representatives”. This will bring up their information. Whatever else you tell them, please tell them we will not tolerate Trump’s riots.

And if you hear of this happening, please don’t believe everything you hear or see online. Check all the information you receive. If someone out there has some way of helping us double check, will you, please be in touch.

Here’s the list of ballot box locations:
