What does public safety mean to you? The Tillamook Police Department is inviting community members to participate in a public safety survey designed to better understand the needs, expectations, and priorities of those who live, work, and visit the City of Tillamook.
Public safety impacts everyone, but the needs and expectations of a community can vary greatly. As the Tillamook Police Department continues to evaluate its services, staffing, and available resources, community feedback will play an important role in helping guide future planning and recommendations.
The survey provides an opportunity for community members to share their perspectives on a variety of public safety topics, including: Police patrol and response services, Criminal investigations, Traffic safety and enforcement, Community engagement and partnerships, Public safety funding and resource priorities, Other community concerns and expectations.
“Our responsibility is to serve this community, and part of doing that well is making sure we understand what the people we serve expect from their police department,” said Chief Nick Troxel. “We know that public safety means different things to different people. We want to hear those perspectives, understand where our community believes our resources should be focused, and use that information to help guide our planning for the future.”
The department recognizes that public safety services must be balanced with available staffing, funding, and other city priorities. Understanding what matters most to the community will help department leadership identify opportunities for improvement and develop informed recommendations for the City Manager, Mayor, and City Council.
“This is about listening, learning, and making informed decisions,” Chief Troxel added. “We may not be able to do everything, but we can make sure we are listening to our community and working toward the priorities that matter most. We believe strong relationships and open communication are essential to building a safer Tillamook.”
The survey is available online in both English and Spanish. Residents, business owners, employees, and visitors are encouraged to participate and share the survey with others.

The Tillamook Police Department encourages local media outlets, community organizations, and businesses to help share the survey and ensure that a broad range of community voices are represented.
“Your voice matters, and your participation can help shape the future of public safety in Tillamook,” said Chief Troxel. “We are grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and appreciate everyone who takes a few minutes to share their thoughts.”
