The first Full Moon of the year 2024, stalks in on January 25th around 10am PST. This Moon is in Leo the lion, the sign that shines like the Sun. Full Moons in Leo encourage us to be proud of our lives, accomplishments and personalities. You have a right to take up space and roar.
Leo represents the heart in astrology and it is possible that one of your heart’s desires will come forward to be accepted and loved under the beams of this Moon. It also offers a fun-loving, courageous energy that we can use to imbue our lives with joy and playfulness. It is sending out the strong message “DON’T FORGET TO PLAY!”
It is so easy to get caught up in the drama of politics and world events right now. Particularly since this Moon is also still conjunct Pluto, which just moved into Aquarius for the second time. (In fact, in a rare and curious transit, the Sun and Pluto moved into Aquarius at the same exact time on January 20th!)
This Plutonian energy draws our attention to the shadowy worlds inner and outer. Personally, it can trigger us to review those feelings and traumas that we thought we had carefully stored away. Collectively, it can draw us into world events and feel caught up in the darkness and “is-there-any-hope!?”
But take heart! The light of the Leo Moon is shining down on us to bring us a lighter perspective and remind us that each day is a gift. Each day we get to choose our lens in which we want to see the world through. Each day we get the opportunity to seize the day!
I invite you in this New Moon window (the next 3 days) to shed the skin of critical and negative self-talk and rejoice in life. Turn off the news, put down the phone and do activities that bring you joy and replenishment.
Perhaps a walk in nature with the trees that are calm and sturdy?
Perhaps working on a creative project that elevates the heart and soul? After all Leo is the King/Queen of creative energies!
Do some community service as giving back (or paying forward) is one of the sacred energies of the magnanimous sign of Leo.
Perhaps letting go of the world’s woes for just 3 days?
You can always pick them back up if you like but for now, let them go. Rejoice in being you, only you! Then share your light with others because in doing so, returns the light to you. The great circle of life. Disney had it right in the “Lion King” theme.
We could all use a dose of this big Leo energy, which isn’t scared of taking a risk with its generous courage and heart. Seize the day!
