The Pisces super full Moon today, August 30 at 6:35 PM PDT is a special one. It is the second full Moon in August also known as a Blue Moon.
I remember my grandma using the saying “why that only happens once in a blue Moon!” frequently. Of course, I had no idea what she was talking about except maybe the color. But now, as I have dived deeply into astrology — I get it!
This is the first blue Moon since August 2021 and there won’t be another one until August 2024. August seems to be the month imbued with the beauty of two full Moons. What makes this blue Moon so incredible is its close proximity to the Earth, which also means super Moon. The Moon will appear bigger and brighter than normal. (Get out and see it is you have clear skies!)The tides will also be bigger and more extreme than usual, so be careful out on the beaches.
Anytime you get a full Moon, that means that the Sun is exactly opposite of the Moon in the astrological signs. So with the Sun being in Virgo, that makes the Moon in Pisces. The Moon enjoys floating around in Pisces, it’s one of her favorite signs because it is such a feeling Moon.
Pisces is a sign that is well known for its deep well of compassion, empathy, creativity, spirituality, and intuition. Therefore this astrological sign of the fishes is famous for how deep they feel. Anytime we get a full Moon in Pisces, you can be guaranteed you are going to feel the feels! Don’t resist, just let the flow happen. That is one of the beauties of a Pisces full Moon, it reveals for us the feelings that we have been keeping stowed away that are uncomfortable, but incredibly powerful to feel and use that energy to gain traction.
It’s OK to be uncomfortable. Our culture does not embrace uncomfortableness, but is a natural element of being an Earthling. In uncomfortableness, it’s where the most growth happens. This Moon, conjunct Saturn and with the Sun in Virgo, if we allow the intense emotions to reveal themselves, we will also be shown a clear path forward.
There might be something that we need to let go of. That is also a part of Pisces, letting go of the mundane or what keeps us tethered. Questions may arise about what your legacy is. What do you want to contribute to this world that will makes you feel replete? What is worth sacrificing in order to make this come true? I’m not talking about working harder, but working for what matters to you. This Moon shines a light on your sacred work that is accessible through your emotions.
With Saturn involved, there may be negative self-talk that threatens your self confidence. That will not serve you well! Acknowledge the negative talk but don’t believe it! There is a big difference between negative voice and your deep emotions. Be discerning. Be fearless! Allow this super blue Moon to guide you through the dark with your emotions and intuition lighting the way towards more fulfillment.
