The Oregon Rural Urban Project team is conducting a statewide effort to address and bridge the political and social divisions that currently exist between urban and rural Oregonians. This situation poses a serious challenge to Oregonians’ sense of participating in a fair and respectful political process and we are determined to do what we can to bring urban and rural folks together to see what can be done about it. We will do this by holding a Townhall meeting in each county to learn how people there feel about this divide and what has caused it. From the Townhalls, we will bring smaller groups of people from both urban and rural communities together in an effort to develop mutually agreeable suggestions for bridging the divide which we will then submit to the State Legislature.
We will be holding a Town Hall at the Tillamook Library on Saturday, May 17th, from 1-3 pm. You can also attend online.
This is a public meeting; attendees are welcome to talk about what is happening in the County, the State, and the relationship between the County and the State Government. Do you feel that you are being listened to in Salem? Are you happy in Tillamook County or do you feel no one at the state level cares about you or your community?
A moderator will guide the discussion and a scribe will record what matters to you – the good as well as what you see as needing improvement.
This is a Braver Angel project that will be traveling all across the state visiting with folks just like you. Please join us at the Library. If you prefer to attend online, please register using this link: https://bit.ly/4jEWAPw.
We look forward to this opportunity to hear from you.
