EDITOR’S NOTE: As you’ll notice in the photos, the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office can truthful verify that they have their ducks in a row, and reunited a family and made everyone’s day on social media! Nice job TCSO. Have a safe Memorial Day weekend you’all.
(From Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page – yes, there is good news in law enforcement …)
This morning, May 23, 2025 as deputies and staff were beginning their day, they noticed something…something that wasn’t normal. Inside the jail’s security fence was a family of young ducklings trapped and unable to get themselves out while their mom nervously waited outside the fence. The best we can deduce is that they snuck through small gaps in the fence but were not able to figure out how to get themselves back out.
After seeking assistance from jail deputies to unlock the gate, patrol deputies Billy Cloud and Scott Griffith along with Parole and Probation deputies Kayla Martin and Sahara Hendricks launched a full rescue mission to help these cute and fuzzy little ducklings escape their temporary confinement.
We are happy to report that all members of the duckling family have been reunited with their mother and are enjoying their freedom. No ducklings were injured during the incident and the Sheriff has promised that trespassing charges will NOT be sought against the adorable duck family.
