Community welcomed to annual Mildred Davy Memorial Luncheon on Oct. 12

Posted on October 4, 2017April 3, 2020 by Editor
Molly Wehrley, a student in the Criminal Justice and Public Safety program at TBCC thanks the crowd at the 2016 luncheon for her Nehalem Bay Emergency Services Scholarship. In 2017, Wehrley received a career pathway certificate as a Law Enforcement Specialist as she works toward her degree.

Tillamook Bay Community College Foundation would like to invite the community to join them at the 2017 Mildred Davy Memorial Scholarship and Recognition Luncheon as they recognize their 2017/2018 scholarship recipients and the donors who make those scholarships possible.
The lunch is being held Oct. 12 at 12 p.m. at the Tillamook Church of the Nazarene. Lunch tickets are $15 apiece and should be purchased in advance by calling 503-842-8222 ext. 1060 before Oct. 6. The event is sponsored by the Tillamook Country Smoker and Near Space Corporation.

The first Mildred Davy Luncheon was held in her honor in 2000 as a way to thank Davy for years of advocating for local education and Tillamook Bay Community College. At the luncheon, the Mildred Davy Endowment was also started. That endowment has since surpassed $110,000 and this year was able to help send three students to TBCC.
Since her passing in 2005, the Mildred Davy Memorial Scholarship and Recognition Luncheon has been a way for the Foundation to honor Davy, recognize the students receiving scholarships, and thank all the donors who make scholarships for students possible.
“Mildred used to say, ‘he climbs the highest peak who helps another up’, I think she would be so pleased to know the community is still working together to ensure TBCC is accessible to everyone in our community by funding student scholarships,” said Heidi Luquette, Director of Development and College Advancement. “Thank you to everyone who has donated to our Foundation and helped a student to attend college.”
For more information or to purchase tickets, call 503-842-8222 ext. 1060.
