FREE CLASS: Introduction to Oregon State Government with LaNicia Duke, Tuesday, December 16

Posted on December 12, 2025 by Editor
At a recent town hall in Wheeler with Representative Cyrus Javadi, many neighbors raised concerns about ICE raids, inflation, and the overall fear of what might happen next. These questions are real and valid. Especially for those who don’t support the direction of current federal policies. But it also raised another important question: what does the state actually have control over?

Understanding the difference between federal power and state power is essential to knowing who controls what and where your voice can make the most impact.

For example, did you know Oregon’s tax code is tied directly to the federal tax code? That means when Congress passes changes like the most recent updates in the “Big Beautiful Bill”, Oregon is required by constitutional law to make those same changes.

If you want a clearer understanding of how Oregon’s government functions and how decisions in Salem affect your daily life, join LaNicia Duke on Tuesday, December 16th from noon to 1pm for a free one-hour class.

In this session, we’ll walk step-by-step through the Oregon Legislature’s website so you can find bills, track issues you care about, identify your representatives, and stay informed about upcoming hearings.

If you’re ready to build confidence, find your voice, and become more engaged in shaping Oregon’s future, this one-hour session is the perfect place to start.
