GORDON’S WEEKLY WEATHER UPDATE 1/19/26: That ridge just keeps hanging on, so more nice weather though midweek; chance for some rain over the weekend.

By Gordon McCraw, Meteorologist for the Tillamook County Pioneer
Man, was the coast nice over the weekend or what?! I drifted over to the coast from the valley Saturday and the weather there was really nice, warm temperatures, light offshore winds, and the ocean was relatively calm. This is all compliments of a blocking ridge of high pressure that remains parked over the region, blocking all the weather well offshore and pushing all the rain far north of the area. We can expect another mostly clear night with light winds, the low dropping to near 39.

Tomorrow looks to be just as nice with sunny skies, still the light winds, the high up near 58. With the calm winds and the lows dropping to near 36 under the partly cloudy skies, we can expect some frost to develop in the early morning hours tomorrow night.

It looks like the ridge will break down some Wednesday, so we have some clouds moving across under the partly sunny skies, still with light winds, the high near 54, then we see a mostly cloudy night, the low near 37.

Last week, it was looking like we might see the rain return by Thursday into Friday but now that is in question as most of the models are showing the rain heading towards California, so for us we are left with only a slight chance of any precipitation starting later Thursday morning under partly sunny skies. We could also see a frosty start to the day Thursday, the afternoon high near 52. Thursday night looks mostly cloudy with a better chance of rain, some patchy fog possible after midnight, the low near 37.

There is a chance that by Friday the ridge breaks down some and will allow a weak system to move into the area, increasing the chance of rain for the coast so we see a slight chance of rain Friday with a better chance of rain again for the weekend, the afternoon temperature stays in the low to mid 50s, overnight lows in the upper 30s.

Lastly, if you are headed into the valley over the next few days, they still have an Air Stagnation Advisory in effect through 4pm Wednesday.
